Black Diamond ~ Spokane

Who has live music, no cover, lots of room for you and all your friends? Black Diamond, that’s who. What an amazing layout for maximizing the multiple types of entertainment they offer. Sports Bar, Restaurant, Pool Hall, Private Rooms, and Event Center all in one location at 9614 Sprague Ave in the Spokane Valley.

Saturday February 4th my wife Amy and I entered the completely full parking lot for the Black Diamond. Once we did find a place to park the car we headed inside. Two options presented themselves inside. To the left a was a well-lit Pool Hall and bar with fifteen pool tables, dart boards, foosball, shuffleboard, and video games. Their full bar includes more than thirty different beers on tap. Over to our right we saw a dimly lit dance floor with a cozy seating area and live band on stage. We chose to start our experience on the dance floor.

Mojo was the band playing on stage. The band played a combination of songs that included Classic Rock and country western. Amy and I danced under the amazing little light show emitting from the stage. The sound was great and the atmosphere intimate.

After burning calories for a bit it was time to replace them with a bite to eat. We chose to share a plate of Diamond Nachos and The Black Jack Philly with fries. The food was delicious, and the portions more abundant than I normally see at most bars. The Black Diamond has a good selection of items to choose from on their menu including appetizers, salads, soup, burgers, and sandwiches.

By far my personal favorite beer is Newcastle and The Black Diamond always has it on tap. This was the clear drink of choice to go with our food selection, an icy cold pitcher of Newcastle. It was time to check out the other half of the Black Diamond so Amy and I relocated to the gaming area.

I found the gaming and bar area to be very spacious. Even with almost every pool table occupied Amy and I never felt cramped or crowded. Long tables with bar stools provide plenty of space for large groups of friends to sit eat and drink while waiting for their turn to make a shot. Big screens are also peppered throughout the vast gaming area for enthusiastic sports fans to watch.

The staff was very friendly and seemed genuinely interested in making sure all of their guests were well attended. We played a few games of pool and even a few games of chess before returning to the intimate table for two in front of the band. Now you “Know Before You Go!”
